So for those of you who know me..then you know I used to be a "poet" of some sort. I love quotes and gathering thoughts in my own head and then later spewing them out onto endless piles of notebooks, diary's, journals, or any other piece of writable material I could find at my disposal before I flushed them out with an overtaking of new material from encounters with others that brought new thoughts and feelings that needed an escape before they were forgotten and pushed into an endless oblivion that I called my mind. So today things were slow at work so I was playing around and found some quotes that really touched my little soul and thought I would share. So here they are, I hope you enjoy and stay warm and blessed.

Three passions have governed my life:
The longings for love, the search for knowledge,
And unbearable pity for the suffering of [humankind].
Love brings ecstasy and relieves loneliness.
In the union of love I have seen
In a mystic miniature the prefiguring vision
Of the heavens that saints and poets have imagined.
With equal passion I have sought knowledge.
I have wished to understand the hearts of [people].
I have wished to know why the stars shine.
Love and knowledge led upwards to the heavens,
But always pity brought me back to earth;
Cries of pain reverberated in my heart
Of children in famine, of victims tortured
And of old people left helpless.
I long to alleviate the evil, but I cannot,
And I too suffer.
This has been my life; I found it worth living.
Every artist was first an amateur.
-Ralph Waldo Emerson
Men spend their lives in anticipations,—in determining to be vastly happy at some period when they have time. But the present time has one advantage over every other—it is our own. Past opportunities are gone, future have not come. We may lay in a stock of pleasures, as we would lay in a stock of wine; but if we defer the tasting of them too long, we shall find that both are soured by age.
-Charles Caleb Colton
